“Ridgway had us all bobbing our heads and doing our best freestyle dance hall moves when the five-piece reggae-rock band from Novato took over the Marin Independent Journal Lobby Lounge.”
Bay Area quintet, Ridgway, is a unique blend of Reggae, Rock and Hip Hop that gets the crowd moving. Forrest, Jack, Jordan, Erik and Danny write their own music from a wide range of influences, so there is something for everybody. They recently completed their first full length album "Brighter Days", which debuted on July 2nd, 2016 at their CD Release Party at the HopMonk Tavern in Novato, California. The band also has a 6 track EP titled "The Extra Mile" from 2014.
Ridgway hails from Marin County, California, a place with a long running tradition of decades of great music. The band has been together for three years, and had the honor of being asked to play the first "Best of the Marin IJ Lobby Lounge Showcase" by Paul Liberatore of the Marin Independent Journal in April. They have also played numerous gigs at the Marin IJ "Lobby Lounge", HopMonk in Novato, Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, the Brick & Mortar in San Francisco, Sleeping Lady Café in Fairfax, the Phoenix in Petaluma, and 924 Gilman, the Berkeley Club made famous by Green Day.
They are also a favorite at Festivals and Fairs, like the Marin County Fair in San Rafael, and the Novato Art & Wine Festival, where they played the Main Stage. They are the go-to band for Events for the City of Novato - some include the Stafford Lake Bike Park Opening, Tour de Novato and the 4th of July Parade.
What started out as a Middle School friendship has now morphed into a Rock Band. Guitarists Jordan Kulp & Jack Buzian met in the Sixth Grade. They shared similar music interests and aspirations. After a few years of playing together as a two man Garage Band, they were approached by friend, Forrest Bousquette, who was excited to record some demos with them. He would later become their Lyricist and Lead Singer. They recruited long-time friend Danny Hagan to be their Drummer (formerly Keelan Scarth from 2013-early 2016) and, after joining the Marin School of the Arts program, met their bassist Erik Trignani. Thus, Ridgway was born!
Much like the band itself, their music has collaboratively and organically evolved over time. They began with the idea of forming a Reggae Band. However, given their different backgrounds and musical influences, incorporated many genres of music: Rock, Reggae, Hip-Hop, tasteful Metal and Pop. They take great pride in writing and performing original songs and also cover their own versions of personal favorites from bands like Sublime, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rebelution and 311. Ridgway wants to change the audiences’ state of mind by encouraging a fun, positive environment. Listeners are invited to come close to the stage and dance, and have a good time!
